WordPress E-Commerce Website Redesign Project

https://www.gabrielspromisecbd.com/

Gabriel's Promise is a Florida-based company who's mission is to provide the very best and most reliable CBD Products on the market today. They required a redesign of their website to be more modern looking and have a minimalist aesthetic. It needed to keep the e-commerce functionality, be able to work across all devices (mobile friendly), and would also be easy to update with future content and CBD products.

Challenge - Redesigning an E-commerce Website

Because Gabriel's Promise is an e-commerce website, there are more considerations that go into it than a standard website redesign. With e-commerce websites, there are things like shopping cart functionality, the checkout process, as well as payment processing issues to keep an eye on. In this case, the website was built with WordPress using a theme that was originally designed for auto parts, WooCommerce for the e-commerce solution, and WP Bakery's Visual Composer as the page builder. While inherently there is nothing wrong with this configuration, for long-term purposes focusing on flexibility, SEO, and other technical considerations I felt it would be better to change the theme and page builder.

Solution - A Faster & More Flexible WordPress Solution

For this e-commerce website we decided to switch the WordPress theme to Astra, and implement Elementor Pro for the page builder. There was no need to change from using WooCommerce, as it's the gold standard for implementing e-commerce into your WordPress website. Astra is known for its extremely fast performance and works amazingly well with Elementor. Elementor is an incredible page building tool, eliminating the need for a "fancy" WordPress theme that usually limit your scalability options and are bloated with lots of unnecessary features, causing slow loading times and other performance issues. Both Astra and Elementor seamlessly integrate with WooCommerce, so I was confident that there wouldn't be any hiccups to the existing products or other e-commerce features.

Results - A Sleeker Website & Improved Website Performance

With the changes mentioned above, combined with new product photos from the website owner, the new website launch was a success. The overall design is more modern, and by moving previous content from the home page to other parts of the website, it has achieved a more minimal aesthetic. The e-commerce component of the website is more prominent now because the products were moved higher up the page so users would see them quicker. Also, with the update to a more lightweight theme, the website speed and overall performance has also improved. Not only does this give the user a better experience, faster loading times have an impact on search engine rankings.
